This is a great way to explore the beautiful countryside of southeast Guizhou and the colorful culture of China’s ethnic minorities during your weekend getaway. Take a 1.5-hour high-speed train ride from Guiyang (Guizhou’s capital) or a 4-hour high-speed train ride from Guangzhou to the beautiful Zhaoxing Dong Village, where you can enjoy beautiful scenery and ethnic culture.
With this 3-day Guizhou weekend tour, you can admire the amazing wooden architecture of the Dong people, explore a mysterious branch of the Miao people, hike through terraced rice fields, wear traditional Dong costumes, and taste their unique delicacies.
Travel Itinerary
Meet your private guide at Congjiang Railway Station. Drive to Zhaoxing Dong Village (about 10 minutes).
In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Zhaoxing Village. Your guide will take you around and explain the style of the Dong wooden houses, local customs and the lifestyle of the Dong people. Taste the popular local snacks: oil tea and glutinous rice cakes with roasted pork. The song and dance evening of the Dong people is very exciting.
In the morning, drive to Huanggang Dong Village. On the way, you will stop to hike to the terraced fields. Enjoy the beauty of the terraced fields and the villages on the hillside.
Explore the quiet Huanggang Village and Zhanli Village, where you will see more authentic Dong culture. People still live a traditional life, unaffected by tourism and commerce. The drum tower in Zhanli Village is more colorful than the drum towers of more popular attractions. Let your guide tell the story of a mysterious local herb that controls the gender of the baby.
In the afternoon, visit Basha Miao Village and enjoy its traditional dances, artillery ceremony.
In the morning, visit a batik workshop, learn and experience the batik making of the Dong ethnic group, appreciate the artistic taste of the Dong people, and make a unique souvenir by yourself (with guidance).

Visit a beautiful, sparsely visited Dong village hidden in the mountains. Try on traditional Dong costumes.
Hike through terraced fields：
Feel the magnificent scenery at your feet. The locals live off the mountains and work hard, and their achievements in irrigation and infrastructure construction are touching.
Encounter the mysterious Miao gunners：
Visit a Miao village, home to the last gunner tribe in China. Enjoy their folk dances, traditional instrumental accompaniment, and gun ceremony.
Have an unforgettable drink with the Dong people：
Taste the Dong people’s favorite traditional foods and drinks, including their homemade rice wine. Experience their interesting drinking customs.
Make your own unique batik souvenirs：
Appreciate the Dong people’s artistic taste and incredible weaving and batik skills. You will have the opportunity to walk into their dyeing workshop, learn about the batik production process, and try dyeing some fabrics.
Enjoy the beautiful singing of the Dong girls：
Watch the Dong people’s singing and dancing performances and feel the Dong people’s optimism and passion for life.

- Stays at entering and exiting cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taipei) can be extended.

- This is a small group tour with a fixed itinerary and guaranteed departures.
You will travel with other people (maximum of 12). - Smart casual dress and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
- The tour guide may adjust the itinerary due to closure of the museums each Monday.
- At the conclusion of the tour, a transfer from your hotel to Hongqiao or Pudong Airport in Shanghai is available upon request at a surcharge.
- Stays at entering and exiting cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taipei) can be extended.
