4-Day Trekking in the Yellow Mountains

Travel Itinerary

Upon arrival, you will be warmly greeted by your private guide outside the baggage claim area. Your professional private driver will take you directly to your hotel. They will do their best to ensure you have everything you need. Get some rest and be ready for the adventure ahead.

Tips:
Travel light! Bring a small bag or backpack for the night on the mountain. Your guide will assist you to store your large suitcase at the Tunxi hotel free of charge. You can pick it up on your return trip. You can also store your luggage at the foot of the mountain. The cost is about RMB 20 (USD 4) per piece of luggage.

Today’s hike is about 10.5 kilometers (6.5 miles) and takes about 5 hours. After breakfast, drive to the foot of Huangshan, starting from Yungu Temple, and ascend the East Stairs, passing several natural strange rocks along the way, especially the Stone Table and Zhilu Xianren Peak, and reach Baie Ridge in about three hours. After resting at the hotel and enjoying a buffet lunch, continue to Feilaiyan and Guangmingding in the afternoon, about three hours. The sunset view at Paiyun Pavilion is unforgettable. After dinner, enjoy a buffet dinner at the hotel to recover your strength.

Tips:
To save time and energy, you can take the Yungu Cable Car up the mountain (10 minutes) and the Yuping Cable Car down the mountain (15 minutes). The Yungu Cable Car costs 80 RMB (13 USD) per person, and the Yuping Cable Car costs 90 RMB (14 USD) per person.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Today’s hike is about 12.5 kilometers (7.8 miles) and takes about 6 hours. After watching the sunrise at Qingliang Terrace, hike to Paiyun Pavilion and then down the mountain to Xihai Grand Canyon. The hike covers the most important sections – the first ring, the second ring, the button, the Plank Road and the Immortal Bridge – and takes about five hours to complete. Lunch will be arranged flexibly by your guide. The hike to Baiyun Hotel takes about an hour. Enjoy a buffet dinner at the hotel.

Tips:
Shortcut. From Paiyun Pavilion to the top of Xihai Grand Canyon, it is all down stairs, and some sections are very narrow and steep. Therefore, hiking through the Xihai Grand Canyon can be a huge challenge, especially for the knees. The monorail can help you save time and energy. It runs between the bottom of the canyon and the main peak area, about 300 meters (0.2 miles) from the Baiyun Hotel. The 893-meter (0.6-mile) journey takes less than five minutes and costs 80 RMB (13 USD) per person.

Meals: Breakfast

You will hike about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) and take about six hours. After watching the sunrise at Guangmingding, hike up the 100 stairs for an hour, then go up to Yuping Pavilion to see the famous Welcoming Pine, then hike up the most precipitous Tiandu Peak for about two hours, and hike down to the foot of the mountain to Lima Temple for about two hours. After the physically demanding adventure, it’s time to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch at Tunxi Ancient Street.
Your private guide and driver will accompany you to the station or airport to your next destination.
